We’re pleased to present Jim Davies 🇬🇧🇦🇺, Intellectual Property Solicitor at 360 Law Group, as a returning speaker at Domain Summit Europe 2025!

Bridging the UK and Australia, Jim thrives at 360 Law Group, a UK-registered global virtual law firm that employs only Solicitors, Barristers, and Overseas Attorneys with 5+ years of qualification - many ex-Partners from leading global firms or former General Counsel. Its low-overhead approach offers some of the lowest rates in the field without sacrificing quality.

jim-davies-speaker.webp

Jim’s foundation lies in his Cambridge education in science and law, followed by training at a Lincoln’s Inn firm focused on intellectual property. A standout early win saw him defend “champagne” for the French wine industry in a pivotal Court of Appeal case. He later shifted gears, managing UK-funded legal training in Romania and an IT security business in London, before merging those skills into a return to law, specializing in internet and domain name law, trademarks, and commercial guidance. After 15 years in Perth at firms like Wrays IP and Elevation Legal, he’s now back in London, a top-tier UK domain law specialist.

Jim’s track record boasts domain wins - defending MySpace.co.uk before its fame, securing Bounce.co.uk with a process-flaw victory, and retaining ThePhoenixGroup.co.uk against a FTSE 100 giant. In trademarks, he’s revoked FURNITURELAND for non-use and resisted CASINO DINO’s bad faith claim. A past Nominet director, he influenced .uk governance, and as OpenUK’s Company Secretary, he ensures robust standards with lively expertise.

Beyond law, he’s refereed rugby (with high-level teammates), ran a student entertainment outfit, and enjoys intimate live music and comedy - proud dad to three. At the summit, he’ll dive into domain disputes, IP protection, and internet law trends, offering practical wisdom for domain pros, registry operators, and tech entrepreneurs.

We’re pleased to introduce Joe Alagna 🇺🇸, Chief Strategy Officer at it.com Domains 🇬🇧, as a featured speaker at Domain Summit Europe 2025! Joe brings over 20 years of domain industry experience, with a strong track record in key roles.

He’s worked as Vice President at 101domain, Channel Director at Afilias (now part of Identity Digital), and General Manager for North American Markets at CentralNic (now part of Team Internet). In 2012, he co-authored 60 successful new gTLD applications - including .xyz, .club, and .app - playing a big part in expanding the internet.

Today, at it.com Domains, he helps organizations of all sizes with their domain needs. Joe’s career began in 1999, sparked by his role as a National Accounts Manager at AT&T Wireless, where he got into domains as a “domainer.”

joe-alagna-speakers.webp

As a domainer, he bought and sold domains like online real estate, using parking to earn cash - a niche that boosted Google and Yahoo (and still does). He also served on the Domain Name Association’s Executive Board, influencing industry direction.

Joe’s witnessed a major shift - the domain world once had distinct groups: registries and registrars handling policy and sales, domainers trading for profit, and hosting experts managing tech (many growing into large firms). Now, these blend - registrars explore domaining, domainers run registrar services, and hosting often comes included.

From Afilias’ registry and DNS offerings (before their acquisition) to his current strategic role, Joe’s navigated this change. Fun notes: his mascot is Snoopy, and he enjoys searching used bookstores for finds!

At the Summit, he’ll share his take on domains, gTLDs, and industry evolution, offering value to domain professionals, investors, and tech enthusiasts. Join us in 2025! Register today: https://london25.domainsummit.com/e/2138665959

richard-lau-speaker.webp

We’re delighted to announce Richard Lau 🇨🇦, a seasoned entrepreneur, domain industry veteran, and core investor in Titan Research 🇬🇧, as a returning speaker at Domain Summit Europe 2025! From Canada, his career is a remarkable tapestry of innovation, resilience, and impact across the digital landscape.

Richard’s story begins in the mid-’90s, immersed in Canada’s paging industry. A colleague’s shift to an internet dial-up venture caught his eye, especially when friends grabbed IceCream.com. In 1996, he and a partner registered auto-dealer domains, sparking a call from Microsoft with a $9,500 offer - thwarted by a trademark issue, but it set the stage for his domain odyssey.

By the late ’90s, he’d turned that spark into a thriving venture - DomainsDirect.com offered free searches for friends, undercutting ISPs with a landing page that swapped $19.95 for zero. This grew into YourNameFree.com and NamesDirect, a top-30 registrar, and by 2001, he’d merged with NameZero and acquired MyDomain.com, a free DNS powerhouse with 500K domains, before recalibrating his path in California after a hectic run and tax challenges.

Honored as “Domainer of the Year” in 2004 at TRAFFIC, Richard has built a fortune since. He conceived NamesCon in 2012 on Rick Schwartz’s forum - a digital hub where he absorbed insights like a scholar. Launched in 2014, it became the domain industry’s premier event, hosting meetings, domain swaps over breakfast, and WaterSchool charity efforts, before its 2017 sale to WorldHostingDays. Now under Opus Origin, a major UK media and events investor, it continues to evolve. Resume.com, serving millions of job seekers, sold to Indeed, and Logo.com - his current star - has generated 10M+ logos with a custom-built tool that outshines clunky predecessors.

Titan Research, a UK-based domain name data company led by COO Cosmin Elefterescu, is his latest frontier. Their Domain Name Intelligence API provides businesses and organisations with up-to-date intelligence on any domain name - ownership details, histories, and risks. The Domain Name Management Service offers a comprehensive solution for streamlining large domain portfolios, from renewals to analytics. They’ve heavily invested in bespoke software, perfected to manage and grow their own portfolio and clients’, delivering precision and scalability.

Richard’s domain prowess is renowned - he’s reclaimed RL.com (a legal battle costing more than its value), God.com, and Wifi.com from hijackers, cementing his status as a forensics expert driven by principle. His portfolio spans thousands - two-word .coms for cash flow, plus treasures like Logo.com - his favorite for its category fit - and Face.com, listed at $10M after rejecting $1M, with visions of its tech or startup potential. Weed.com, sold cheap in 2008, remains a collective domainer regret.

In 2002, after a whirlwind of ventures and tax woes, Richard restarted with $5K in credit, flipping domains with finesse - scouring GoTo.com for keywords, tracing owners with skip-tracing skills from a detective book, and sealing deals with casual calls - “Richard from Canada here!” He’s since influenced crypto projects and maintained Domain Manager as a free tool for domainers, showcasing his enduring industry imprint.

Titan Research unites his expertise - Elefterescu (ex-Deepcrawl, Palantir) brings SaaS product know-how, while Richard’s vision drives their digital identity solutions. Beyond portfolio management, they’re shaping how brands secure their online presence, with APIs for threat detection and dashboards for portfolio control - a fusion of his 25+ years and forward-looking tech.

Richard’s commitment extends beyond profit - he’s raised over $500K for WaterSchool via WaterNight, leading as Executive Director to deliver clean water to Uganda and Kenya since 2007. He’s a staunch supporter of Women in Domaining and the ICA, and a networker who’s clinched deals over backyard barbecues. He savors Chinese food, 60s pop, 1984, and snooker’s gentle clicks, musing about astronomy or piano if domains ever wane.

His session will be a comprehensive dive - 25+ years of domain shifts (from $75 flips to $10M asks), branding insights (Logo.com’s swift success), and digital identity’s future with Titan Research. Expect tales of RL.com’s legal fight, NamesCon’s networking zenith and its Opus Origin phase, and his Face.com ambitions - invaluable for investors, brand specialists, and tech enthusiasts!

We’re delighted to present Philippe Boos 🇫🇷, CEO of Domgate, as a distinguished speaker at Domain Summit Europe 2025! With more than 15 years as a European Trademark Attorney, Philippe founded Domgate in 2014 to address the complex needs of country code top-level domains (ccTLDs), offering a tailored solution for trademark holders and resellers.

Philippe’s career began in Paris at a leading intellectual property law firm, followed by a stint as Trademark Counsel at the European Trademark Office (EUIPO) from June 2006 to October 2013 - the agency overseeing EU trademarks and Community designs. Noticing ccTLDs required specialised trademark expertise often lacking, he established Domgate in Grasse, France, creating a platform for 1,200+ ccTLDs across 250 countries with local presence via trustee services, anonymization, and an API for automation.

Domgate empowers resellers and safeguards companies’ online presence with a robust lineup. Their corporate domain services - domain watching, pre-contentious actions, and UDRP/URS procedures - are enhanced by the 9yard brand protection services: Domain Monitoring to track threats, Website Takedown to remove rogue sites, TM Watching & Registrations for trademark security, ccTLDs Domain Registration Strategy for global reach, and more. Philippe’s team of IT and IP experts provides a full toolkit, including a knowledge base and downloadable client docs.

Domgate stands out with its exclusive focus on ccTLDs and resellers. Philippe built a skilled crew of account managers and legal specialists, combining technical and trademark knowledge to enhance resellers’ offerings efficiently. Covering domains from .bh (Bahrain) to .ae (UAE), they deliver SEO advantages, local credibility, and brand localisation for international firms - a unique edge in the market.

Active in the industry, Philippe spoke at APTLD85 on registration tactics and networked at CloudFest and INTA 2024. He’s shared LinkedIn insights on AI-driven domain risks and hailed ICANN’s RDRS for trademark pros. Domgate’s €15 .it.com offer reflects his commitment to value. His session will dive into ccTLD strategies, 9yard protection, and brand security - vital for investors, brand experts, and tech pros!

Last year Domgate were also exhibitors at the Domain Summit 2024:
